Alex Buckman's Hints for getting the most out of the X-Men Legends gameplay experience. Some of these notes apply to the savegame I supplied. Others are for general gameplay. To use this savegame, copy the file to the directory where the X-Men Legends II savegame are stored on your hard drive. This is C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Activision\X-Men Legends 2\Save on my computer. To use the savegame for a new game, start a new game and when it asks if you want to use saved statistics, select the savegame I have supplied (it should be in the tenth slot). Due to the fact that all characters are at the maximum highest level attainable (99), there is no point in trying to level up the characters through experience gathering or Danger Room missions. Similarly, it is not necessary to rescue Iron Man or complete all Danger Room missions in order to get the bonus characters these acts supply. With the characters who have no special equipment (Deadpool, Iron Man, Professor X, Pyro and Sabretooth), these are the equipment allocations that I think works best: Deadpool Iron Man Professor X Pyro or Sabretooth Webslinger Apocalypse's Bane Excelsior Harness Alpha Belt X-Gloves of Quickness Vindicator's Gauntlets Wendigo's Fist Alpha Bracers X-Armor of Quickness Excelsior Armor Xavier's Dream Alpha Mantle I also found these other special items: Wired War Belt of Justice Inhuman Gauntlets Exodus Cloak The Webslinger, Apocalypse's Bane, Vindicator's Gauntlets, Wendigo's Fist, Xavier's Dream and EXodus Cloak are Unique Items. These means they are rarely available (they appear at random once for several complete play throughs). You will discover that most enemies are now pitiably weak and it is easy to defeat all bosses, including Apocalypse. If you are asked whether or not to automatically equip characters, always say you will allocate equipment. Otherwise you will be unable to allocate the equipment from the Stash box to the characters. After defeating Stryfe, NEVER use the Blink portal to return to the X-Mansion. This will reset all the maps to their unactivated states and you will have to fight your way back to the city. It's easier just to return to the city the way you came. You should also avoid using the Bonus Room portal and/or Danger Room missions while a Blink Portal is active. I experienced a random error that shut down the Blink Portal and I had to take the long way back to the Core (I was near the end of the level). By using the teleporter in Egypt, you can return to Apocalypse's Tower and use a Blink Portal to return to the X-Mansion. The top of the tower resets to unexplored every time you leave (go to another level or the X-Mansion) and come back. This also applies to the room where Living Monolith is defeated. You can use this to stock up on health, inventory and Tech Bits if you desire. For some reason, Professor X moves more quickly then the other characters. I'm uncertain why this has happened. Never use him to defeat enemies that require certain moves, you can't press the keys fast enough. This principle also applies to Iron Man when his Movement Amplifier function is active. Professor X is the best choice for defeating Stryfe. Stryfe is set as a priority target and the other characters will target him instead of the Brain Trust tanks. Professor X's will target the tanks instead of Stryfe. When Juggernaut uses , he grows in size. The longer he uses it, the bigger he becomes. Once I got him twice the size of Holocaust and the size of a Sentinel (when battling these enemies). Juggernaut is the best choice for the Madri Temple. When equipped with his Cyttorak Enhancer, he is immune to the slowing ability of the hounds encountered frequently in this location.
